  • This project is driven by photographer Alejandro Hurtado and journalist Antonio Ortín, who carry out the Camino de Santiago to give visibility to the alzhemer.
  • The Councilor for Social Services, Concepción Fernández, and the Vice President of FAGAL and President of AGADEA, Isabel Gey, were the people in charge of receiving them in the Obradoiro Square.

The solidarity project "Camino de la Memoria" arrived in Santiago de Compostela on Tuesday. The promoters of the initiative, the photographer Alejandro Hurtado and the journalist Antonio Ortín, were received this morning in the Obradoiro Square by the Vice President of the Federation Alzhéimer Galicia and President of AGADEA, Isabel Gey, and the Councilor of Social Services, Concepción Fernández .

These two cyclists started last August 20 the stretch of the Camino de Santiago that runs along the Ruta de la Plata by bicycle, making stops in various locations where they could visit Associations of Relatives of People with Alzhéimer. The promoters of this initiative emphasized upon arrival that they had an impact on the importance of alzhemer being a state issue, as well as highlighting the work carried out by the associations that have visited on their journey, which not only helps the sick person but also to his family.
For her part, the Vice President of FAGAL thanked the implementation of this type of initiatives that give visibility to the alzheimer. During the ceremony, the Councilor for Social Services wanted to give them on behalf of the City Council gifts as a souvenir of their passage through the city.

After the reception, representatives of FAGAL and AGADEA accompanied the two cyclists to the Space of Memory, a site located in the Park of Bonaval in memory of people with Alzheimer's and opened last year for World Alzheimer's Day. Likewise, the "Camino de la Memoria" project also wanted to approach the Therapeutic Center that AGADEA has in the center of the city, to know first hand the work done and capture snapshots to include in your travel diary.

The initiative "Camino de la Memoria" aims to be the graphic and commented narrative of the Jacobean route, to spread on the one hand a message of awareness about the alzhemer and, on the other hand, to make known through the experiences, characters and landscapes both the Route of the Silver as the Mozarabic Way of Malaga. These experiences will be collected in a book of photographs, whose proceeds will go to the Association of Relatives of Sick People of Alzheimer's of Malaga (AFA Malaga).
