The Federation Alzhéimer Galicia and the Barrié Fundation win the Albert Jovell Awars for Red Paraguas Program

  • The President of FAGAL collects the award thanking the jury the distinction and recognizing the need for more information about dementias in those rural areas with fewer resources.
  • The project was awarded in the category of better training for patients and / or relatives by a patient organization, NGO or foundation.
  • The Red Paraguas Program seeks to improve care and quality of life of family caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease in rural areas of Galicia.

The Federation Alzhéimer Galicia and the Barrié Fundation were honored this morning with Albert Jovell Award in the category of better training for patients and/or relatives by a patient organization, NGO or foundation. This second edition of the awards organized by Janssen, in collaboration with Cátedras en Red, which took place in the International University of Catalonia, refused to recognize the projects highlighted by its innovative character and its humanistic approach, developed by the various agents around the figure of the patient.

The President of the Federation Alzheimer Galicia, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Bernárdez, along with the Director of Social Action Programs of Barrié Foundation, Maria Isabel Perez Martinez Foundation, were in charge of receiving the award. The representative of FAGAL appreciates this recognition, while thanked the Barrié Foundation, as without them it would not be possible to carry out the program.

The prize won by FAGAL and Barrié Foundation, who shared nomination with Psoriasis Action (Association of Patients of Psoriasis and Family) Foundation MEHUER (Orphan Drugs and Rare Diseases Foundation) and FESCAN (Federation of the Deaf of Cantabria), recognizes three years has been running the Red Paraguas Program, created in 2013 and renovated last year, which involved the implementation of activities and services that seek to improve the care and quality of life of family caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease in rural Galicia, through an agreement signed between the Barrié Foundation and the Federation Alzhéimer Galicia.
