The Federation Alzheimer Galicia participates in the 28th Alzheimer Europe Conference in Barcelona

On October 29, 30 and 31, the 28th Alzheimer Europe Congress was held in Barcelona, which brought together professionals from the field of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative dementias under the slogan "Making dementia a European priority " at the Barceló Sants Hotel in the Catalan capital. During these three days, the congress promoted a multidisciplinary approach to dementia through five points within the program: policies and strategies; attention approaches; care services; rights and friendly society with dementia; and genetics, prevention and treatment.

The Federation Alzheimer Galicia was present at this international event with a delegation of technicians and managers of the entity and our associations AGADEA and AFAGA. In addition, FAGAL participated in the program of this 28th Congress with the publication of two communications in poster format that were presented on the day of Tuesday and Wednesday.

The first of the communications addressed the work developed by the three working groups of professionals in the associations (Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Physiotherapy) created in recent years, and which led to the specific Alzheimer's manuals for these three disciplines. The person in charge of making the presentation was Javier Hermida, coordinator of the federation's technical office, who explained the process of preparing these three manuals.

The second communication made a tour of the Alzheimer's Umbrella Network Program, launched by FAGAL and the Barrié Foundation in 2013, and which allows Galician rural residents to access resources for people affected by Alzheimer's disease and their families, as well as carry out activities to elementary students, ESO and Bachillerato in order to provide information about the disease. The presentation of this poster was made by Lucía Ruanova, social worker of FAGAL, who addressed the most outstanding aspects of this program that is already in its third edition.
