The Red Umbrella Alzhéimer Program and the Physiotherapy Manual of FAGAL, present at the 59th Congress of the SEGG

Yesterday in A Coruña began the 59th edition of the Congress of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology and the 29th Congress of the Galician Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology, which take place in the Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions of the city. This year, under the motto "Aging and Chronicity: An Opportunity for Prevention and Innovation", the SEGG aims to claim the decisive role that the attention to chronicity must play Geriatrics and Gerontology.

In this congress that closes tomorrow, two of the most important projects of the Federation Alzhéimer Galicia: the Red Umbrella Program and the Manual of Physiotherapy in Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative dementias also played a part. Both projects were presented today through a communication in poster format in which the main contributions of these two initiatives were presented to the audience.

The Red Umbrella Alzhéimer Program is a project launched by FAGAL and the Barrié Foundation in 2013 and has just launched its third edition, which aims to continue supporting the rural Galician in the field of dementia, in this case through respite units for caregiver families, as well as continue with activities of intergenerational awareness in the Galician cities.

The coordinator of the FAGAL Physiotherapy Working Group, Vanesa López, had the opportunity to present the manual "Physiotherapy in Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative dementias" in which the work was carried out in recent months and is already in phase of design. This manual aims to be a reference manual for professionals in this field who work with people with neurodegenerative dementia.
