FAGAL and the CERMI entities meet with the Xunta de Galicia to discuss their needs
The meeting was attended by Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Fabiola García, who were told the need to activate an Autonomous Plan for Dementia Care
On June 10, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Bernárdez, president of the Galician Alzheimer Federation, was present at a meeting in which the entities belonging to CERMI Galicia spoke with the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and with the Conselleira of Social Policy, Fabiola García, on the needs of entities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This meeting was held virtually and focused on the situation created by the COVID-19 health crisis. Along these lines, the importance of reactivating the services of the associations was highlighted, for which the different entities needed the legal guarantee and the support of the Xunta de Galicia. This reactivation is of vital importance so that the users of the Galician entities can return to their usual exercises and routines, and they would have all the security measures recommended by the health authorities to avoid possible infections.
The creation and implementation of an Autonomous Dementia Care Plan for the care of the elderly in Galicia was also one of the points that were discussed. The urgency of this plan, now more than ever, is that it is essential to follow a common line of care for our elders, who, in addition to being a vulnerable group in the face of this pandemic, have seen their situation worsened due to their routines have not been carried out in recent months. In addition, the meeting also discussed the current model of residences in our community.
