Care programs
In order to achieve the purposes of Federación Alzhéimer Galicia, this entity and its member associations provide care services to family member of people with dementia through the following programs.

SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR CAREGIVERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA
This program has the main objective of addressing the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative dementias and promoting the adaptation of the family into this new reality. It consists in giving continuous personal support to the caregiver (both at individual and collective levels) during the disease process, looking into the moments of diagnosis, mood swings, hospital admissions, passing and subsequent mourning.

SOCIAL MEDIA PROMOTING PROGRAMS AND OTHER SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE ACTIONS
With this program we fight what we know as “digital divide”, promoting the access to technology and new communication channels amongst elderly people, promoting technological literacy and social networking, at the same that it helps improving their personal autonomy, their social relationships and their cognitive processes (attention, concentration, memory...) These activities, aimed at family members of people with dementia, go further into Internet use, electronic mailing, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, WhatsApp...

ICT PROGRAM FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE
It has been proved that using new technologies improves individual and social development in elderly people, favoring their personal autonomy and independence, helping them overcome the fear of loneliness and isolation. Throughout the year 2019, activities to advise family members with people with dementia on how to use a computer, its basic features, Internet, e-mail, etc. were carried out.

RED MAY PROJECT
The Programa Operativo INTERREG VA España - Portugal (POCTEP) (Operational Program of Cross-border Cooperation between Spain and Portugal) provides free services through authorized professionals that travel by a mobile unit to different town halls of Galicia's rural areas.
- Optical services: vision checks and eye tests, among others.
- Podiatry services: prevention, diagnosis and treatment of main foot pathologies.
- Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative dementias prevention services: testing, cognitive stimulation sheets and exercises...
- Advising and support related to essential daily services: pharmacological, banking, legal, nutritional, household supplies...
